Active Isolated Stretching
Active Isolated Stretching (AIS) is a method of muscle lengthening and fascial release that can be used as a type of Athletic Stretching Technique to provide effective, dynamic facilitated stretching of major muscle groups. More importantly, AIS works to help the body re-educate soft tissue by providing functional and physiological restoration of superficial and deep fascial planes.
AIS can serve as a stand-alone session, or can easily be incorporated into a massage as well. Active movement of the antagonist muscle by the client coupled with a 2-second stretch to the target muscle enhances lengthening of muscle tissue while not engaging the stretch reflex.
Clients who have received AIS commonly report:
- Increase in joint flexibility and restoration of full Range-of-Motion.
- Increase in muscle-tendon flexibility
- Increase in body awareness
- Decrease in pain surrounding a joint
NOTE: Clients should wear clothing made from stretchable fabrics, and/or “gym-type” clothes to session. Those that do not will be offered a massage therapy session and/or asked to rebook.
AIS Session Rates:
1 hr: $100.00
1 and ½ hr: $140.00
